Reminders today:

-Winter ASB applications are due this Friday in the Student Involvement office front desk. They are available for pick up in the Center.
-The Dare to Care celebration is tonight at 5:30 in the Center for Civic Engagement 222 City Union. Come for food, refreshments, and celebration!

Welcome back!


Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving break!

Reminders now that you are back:

-The Winter Break ASB applications are available in the office and are due at the front desk in student involvement by 5:00 Friday 11/2.
-You can still sign up to participate in the UNL Tax Credit Campaign. Check out engage.unl.edu for more info.
-The Dare to Care celebration is this Wednesday (11/30) at 5:30. There will be food, refreshments, and prizes for the groups who had the most donations.
-Peoples City Mission needs volunteers to help on Wednesday (11/30) anytime between 8am to 8pm to help set up for the Starry Nights Festival. Contact Stacey with any questions at 402.817.0818 or slima@peoplescitymission.org.

Dare to Care a success!


 Good news! Dare to Care was a great event and big success last week. We do not know the specific details of how many donations we gathered, but will find out more information at the end of November. We will pass on that information when we get it.

-Hunger Forum tonight from 5-7:30 in Henzlick Hall 124. Come check it out!
-Check out the website (http://engage.unl.edu/) and look under the ACT tab to see upcoming events. This will help you keep up to date with the CCE along with facebook, twitter, and blogger.
-There is tax info this Friday from 1:00 - 4:00. You can come in and ask questions about the UNL tax credit campaign and pick up your tax materials. This will be in the CCE office 222 City Union.

Huskers Fighting Hunger Wednesday


Huskers Fighting Hunger forum this Wednesday the 16th from 5-7:30 PM. There will be a panel discussion on how students can become involved in anti-hunger campaigns along with breakout sessions on different nutrition aspects. Check out the link for more information!

UNL Tax Credit Campaign

Interested in learning how to do taxes? Participate in the UNL Tax Credit Campaign! It can be great experience for majors and is a great resume builder. Check out this brochure or engage.unl.edu for more information.

Dare to Care - Donating nonperishable food items in one of the barrels on City or East campus will help give less fortunate families around the city of Lincoln a Thanksgiving dinner! Donations will be picked up Friday so make sure to place them in before then.

Winter ASB - The next alternative service break this year is for winter break. It will be to Tuscaloosa, Alabama to help clean up and rebuild after the F4 tornado that hit earlier this year. There will also be cultural activities in Memphis, Tennessee. Cost will be approximately $200 and students will be gone January 1st-8th. Info session are in the Nebraska Union Nov. 15th at 5 pm and Nov. 16th at 12 pm.

Hunger forum - The Huskers Fighting Hunger Forum will be next Wednesday (Nov 16th) from 5 - 7 pm. The goal will be to educate the audience on hunger issues and provide them with information and opportunities to fight hunger. Dare to Care


Dare to Care is happening this week on UNL campus! If you have non-perishable donations you can drop them off on city campus at Oldfather Hall, Richards Hall, Henzlick Hall, City Campus Union, Campus Rec, and Othmer Hall. At East campus you can drop off donations in the East Campus Union, Food Industry Complex, Animal Science Building, and Plant Sciences building. Barrels should be set out after tonight so donations can be placed in the barrels starting tomorrow. 

Alternative Service Break: Tuscaloosa, Alabama


Tuscaloosa, AL was hit by a mile-wide F4 tornado that leveled sections of the city in April
2011. From January 1-8, 2012 students will serve in the Tuscaloosa area through clean-
up and rebuilding efforts and also participate in cultural activities in Memphis, TN and
Tuscaloosa. The trip will cost approximately $200 which includes housing, food, travel,
and a t-shirt. Information sessions will be held in the Nebraska Union November 15 at 5:00
PM and November 16 at 12:00 PM. Trip applications are available in the Center for Civic
Engagement (222 Nebraska Union) and are due December 2. For more information visit
